I’m working on different perspectives. I still haven’t gotten to where I like but this is another exercise while hiking. Thanks to Michael for putting up with me.

Day 210

by Andrei on May.14, 2010, under project 365

Today it’s about the world around us. This is not a “green post”. It’s just about the perspective. The image below is made out of 13 panoramas, all made of over a dozen images each, in total about 150 images. I let Photoshop do the heavy clumsy lifting, as you can see. Photoshop crashed a few times while trying to figure out all 150 images, so I worked separately on the vertical panoramas and then merged them into this final image. Here’s day 210.

Day 193

by Andrei on Apr.27, 2010, under project 365

I like photographing nature more and more. This was my first frame today. I did a bunch more afterwards but this one I ended up liking the most. Believe it or not, this whole water is gone during the day as it is one of the spots where the Pacific Ocean pulls away its tide in the morning. A beautiful place that smells like sea water. I have shot a few images here of which one is part of the 365 project and you can find it here. Here’s Day 193.

Day Sixty One

by Andrei on Dec.16, 2009, under project 365

Today I saw an UFO. It’s the first UFO that I have ever seen live. I got the camera out and took this shot. It was unbelievable. I then saw a guy being lifted up by this big ray of light. Then he fell – they must have dropped him, or somethin’. I don’t know what to say. Maybe they picked up the shutter click from my camera and it somehow interfered with their beam. I never really believed in UFOs, but after tonight,… I don’t know, man… it’s just something… I’m really dizzy. Maybe the ray of light got to me too… I hope I’ll still be here tomorrow. If you don’t see a post tomorrow… you know where I am. I’ll keep my camera with me, in case I ever get back, or in case someone finds the camera… or at least the CF card.

Strobist info: UFO light up in the sky. Tweaks in Lr only (WB, tint, etc.) – no layers, no Ps, nothing else.

Post Scriptum: big big big kudos to whomever can tell me how this shot was done, in case you didn’t believe my UFO story.

Day Thirty One

by Andrei on Nov.16, 2009, under project 365

I’ve been complaining a lot lately about how much it rains. And it does rain alot. After living in Idaho for a bunch of years, I must say that Vancouver is quite the change. Besides that challenge of shooting outdoors with strobes it’s also an inconvenience in the rear to my project. Today, I had to give a shot to just rain. Then I realized that Christmas is around the corner and tried to frame this photograph below. Be sure to check out the setup shot below. Nothing fancy, actually I’m just showing you a broader image of how I framed the lamppost to look like a Christmas tree globe. I just tried and tried until one drop of water looked like the string. There.

Day Eight

by Andrei on Oct.24, 2009, under project 365

This is the setup I used today in the park for a bunch of free portraits. It was an interesting experience. A bunch of people stopped by, a bunch of people ran away. Well, not really… but they politely declined.
