Day 252

by Andrei on Jun.25, 2010, under project 365

I have seen this car a few times while driving through Bellingham, Washington. I really like old cars and I knew that one day I will stop and buy this with cold hard cash shoot an image of this one as well. If you would like to see more details about the car or if you are interested in purchasing it, you may go to their website at www.barnfineclassics.com.

I was inspired in creating this image by a picture of an old timer I had seen on Ben Faragau’s website. I found his website a bit cumbersome to navigate, but if you have a bit of patience you will find the red interior classic under personal work and if you like photography you will may find that he’s got some amazing images posted there. He’s a very talented photographer down in California whose personal work is very beautiful.

This is a 1941 Pontiac Torpedo Coupe, magnificently and fully restored.

I shot a few more images on the lot of Barn Fine Classics, which I will later link to this post somewhere around here.

Day Fifty Six

by Andrei on Dec.11, 2009, under project 365

Today I am ready to unveil one of my long term projects. I’ve been working on this classic for some time and now it’s finally finished. The last two things I had mounted were the driver’s door handle and the hood ornament. I had to take the door apart but it was well worth the effort. I took it to a friend’s garage where we could set up a little car show lighting and shot a few frames. I would like to point out that this classic is in top condition and drives excellent. The engine runs smoothly and this is one of the most comfortable rides.

I said I would like to point that out but as much as I wish I could, I unfortunately cannot, because this is not a full size 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air. Even thought I had fun trying to make it look like a real size car in a car show exhibit I cannot even fit a pancake inside this car and the trunk doesn’t even open. It is quite beautiful though. I’ve always loved the “old America” and these kinds of classics remind me of a time I wished I had been around.

Strobist info: light painting technique with a 6 (or 9?) LED flashlight and two 580 EX II on IR slave standby. 15″ exposure at f22. The 580′s are there to blink their magic IR light on the tail lights and create a bit of break lights sparks in the back. Setup shot here – notice the small flashlight, my Canon remote and the two 580s at the back of the car.
