Day 327
by Andrei on Sep.08, 2010, under project 365
One shot took care of it today. I didn’t know what was going to happen and the camera did have a hard time focusing, but in the end it turned out alright. Shot in aperture priority straight up in the sky through the open moonroof. Long exposure, camera set on the elbow rest (?). Yes, my car has an elbow rest. It reminds me of Sergei’s car (Sergei is my friend from Boise, ID) who drove a car with no elbow rest. You know what he did to get an elbow rest? He put a shoe box in between the seats and he got himself an elbow rest. He’s also the same guy who asked me, a few months after buying a car if I had changed the grease in the car. My good Russian/Moldovan fellow, Sergei spoke Romanian in a very particular manner. The Romanian spoken in Moldova is a language frozen in time. It’s about 50 or 60 years behind in the normal evolution of the Romanian language, due to the occupation of our dear and beloved neighbors, the Russians.
So when Sergei asked the question, I asked him back: “What did you say?” He then asked again: “Andrei, did you change THE GREASE?” I asked: “What grease? What grease are you talking about?” “The grease in the car!! Have you changed it?” “You mean the oil?” “Yes, yes, the oil, the oil. Have you changed the oil?” I believe I hadn’t. It was my first car that needed an oil change, (the other was almost 40 years old) and as a student, it was one of the first things that I learned I had to do with a car.
