Day 334

by on Sep.15, 2010, under project 365

I got inspired by Maciek again. I also realized that it’s almost impossible to get an image like his, without a bit of post production. I wanted to make more images with fruits in water, and probably more will come. I like the way this one turned out, especially that I only used Lightroom to process it. Granted Lr had to do some heavy lifting but nothing that the program couldn’t handle. Initially I only wanted a grape. Then, after trying a few times and realizing it is hard to get them out because I had to dump the water and didn’t want to leave fingerprints on the vase, I let them all in. “I ate some…” – Forrest Gump, about the box of chocolates.

Lighting info: 580 EX x2 via PW CR and CL with red and blue gels, pointed at white paper behind the vase. I radically changed the color balance in Lr, which wiped out the blue. The rest you need to figure out on your own.

Day 318

by on Aug.30, 2010, under project 365

You see something and wonder if you can catch the details. I had to put a flash behind this leaf, and all you see here is the leaf lit from behind. Entirely. Some things can only be seen with the naked eye though. I like the image, and wish I had a lady bug to put on top or something, but I still like the way it looks. It’s like seeing the veins of a plant. Here’s Day 318. Tomorrow I have to fillet the salmons.
