Day 336
by Andrei on Sep.17, 2010, under project 365
This is dedicated to all my friends in the US who watch the NFL season. I shot this in the living room with three Canon flashes, two on the sides behind me as rim lights with light modifiers to avoid light spills and another camera right, below, clamped to one of the tripod’s legs, with a blue gel to simulate the TV light. The TV wasn’t on, although I did search the channels for some NFL images and snapped a few shots. I used those shots for the almost unnoticeable eyes reflections, a reflection on the bottle, for the frame and believe it or not a tiny blurred reflection on the nail that’s pressing a random button on the remote (in order for the red LED light to come on). If you’ve noticed some vapours coming out of the bottle, it is not because I had a fresh cold beer, it is because I used a modified smoke brush to imitate a fresh opened beer bottle (unfortunately the bottle has been long empty). Day 222

Tonight was soccer night. I took my son with me, even though it was only big guys (read adults). We had a lot of fun even tough there’s people out there that play a lot better than us. A lot! Nonetheless it was a good workout, a great time and great fellowship. Here’s how the shoes looked when we got home. Simple setup below.

Day 188

Another Home Depot project, actually done in the same Saturday as the previous one. This one is quite fun to play, actually, and I believe the image is self explanatory. The rules follow the American Football* rules to a certain extent and the “ball” you just flick, instead of kicking. The end zone is “negotiable” in size and the point is not to flick the ball too hard to actually pass the end zone. Whenever the player gets a touchdown, you get to flick for a field goal. Play it on a table and make sure the ball doesn’t fall off the table. No helmets, no hike, no fumbles. Fun game.

* I have to call it American football because I am still not convinced that European football is soccer and American football just football. I understand that soccer may mean only soccer and that football may mean both football and soccer, but which game uses the foot in contact with the ball more often?
