Day 280
by Andrei on Jul.23, 2010, under project 365
Here’s another spontaneous shot. I saw these tires with flowers on the side of the road. It just happened that my wife was driving so I asked her to drop me off and come pick me up in a half an hour. I wandered about, and scouted a bit more the area, but these flowers remained my shot for the day.

These flowers are incredibly small. I used a 50 mm with +7 diopter filters to get to them. The flash is only 20 mm away from the white petals. Just another day, doing a late project. 105 days left. It’s hard to believe I made it so far. Thanks for looking.

Beautiful red tulips in the sunset light for day 180, another round number. 185 days to go. I cannot believe it is almost half a year since I started doing this. No strobes today, just these beautiful flowers. Enjoy.

Why are flowers beautiful? What is it that attracts everyone to them, from insects and animals and birds, to the hearts of people? Why are they beautiful?

Beautiful beautiful flowers. I did a self portrait today and after grabbing the setup shot, I made this. It came out amazing and there you have it. I vetoed the self portrait shot and stuck with this. No post-production whatsoever. Jump below for secret recipe and link to licensing this image. Most of the images you find on the site are available as fine art prints. Just drop me a line and I’ll see if I can pull a few strings to get you some.

Day Fifty Nine

It’s so good to have a little model willing to pose for me. I wonder what the long term effect will be upon my kids. I do try to make it quick and simple for them, although it doesn’t work out all the time. As you can see from the setup shot, I had little time with my model today – not even a chance to grab a setup shot.

Day Forty Five
by Andrei on Nov.30, 2009, under project 365
Still nature. So still that you could hear the flowers dry as you stare at them. I had fun with it. I realize that there are so many things I want to shoot and if I have more ideas I need to take the one that I cannot do on a different day. Such as this one. I couldn’t shoot it tonight and post it some other day whenever I ran out of ideas. Nor could I have waited for these flowers to dry even more. Actually umm… I could have. Just like with the pumpkin on day fourteen. More to come.
Strobist info: 580 EX CL 1/64 70mm, 580 EX II CR half snooted 1/8 80mm, 580 EX II behind old pot 1/128 28mm. . Notice the beautiful flower pot waiting it’s turn in the setup shot.
Day Forty

Today I wasn’t planning to get this shot. I got called to do this on the spot and I kinda had to make it work with one light. Everything, besides the cake, was improvised. I’m glad it turned out the way it did. And the cake was good. Mmm, mmm,… Happy birthday, Timi!
Strobist info: 580 EX into umbrella, CR at 1/2 via PW. Slow shutter for small tungsten fill. That’s why you can see the little orange spot in the middle. I usually don’t tweak with the images, cause there’s just so dang many, so pretty much what you see is straight from camera. I’ll let you know when I tweak, that’s if it’s not obvious. Don’t forget to grab the RSS and share on Facebook, Twitter, and what have you,… right below.
