Day 263

by on Jul.06, 2010, under project 365

As I look at this image now I realize I should have rendered the sense of scale a bit better. This is an “ant city” found under a garden pot. I lit it sideways with a flash (read below for details) to create the sunset feel. It is about 10 inches across and the first time we lifted the pot it was full of ants. They might have migrated now, not having realized that their dwellings and all their hard work and investments were not made in “real” soil.

Lighting info: 580 EX II with 3/4 CTO gel at 105 mm at 1/23 power via ST-E2 transmitter CL. Small tweaks in Lr.

Day Eighty Two

by on Jan.06, 2010, under project 365

Honestly I was working on something else tonight and I got this shot before the others from high up on a hill. I am still working on the others and I knew I needed more time for it to be entirely ready. The sky was great for both shots, but for the other one I need more time,… literally, a lot more time. Oh, and just in case you were wondering how the rules work, since I posted this so late: I need one shot a day. It must be taken that day (not on a previous day), regardless of wether I post it online the same day. I’m just sayin’… Just so you know, ’cause I might not get to posting them here the same day. (This is getting tiring.)

Day Fifty One

by on Dec.06, 2009, under project 365

Even though I stayed up very late last night playing with the beauty dish, I did not like what I got so in trying to be true to my self imposed rule that I should like what I shoot, today I went outside and tried again. Here goes day 51.
