Day 252

by Andrei on Jun.25, 2010, under project 365

I have seen this car a few times while driving through Bellingham, Washington. I really like old cars and I knew that one day I will stop and buy this with cold hard cash shoot an image of this one as well. If you would like to see more details about the car or if you are interested in purchasing it, you may go to their website at www.barnfineclassics.com.

I was inspired in creating this image by a picture of an old timer I had seen on Ben Faragau’s website. I found his website a bit cumbersome to navigate, but if you have a bit of patience you will find the red interior classic under personal work and if you like photography you will may find that he’s got some amazing images posted there. He’s a very talented photographer down in California whose personal work is very beautiful.

This is a 1941 Pontiac Torpedo Coupe, magnificently and fully restored.

I shot a few more images on the lot of Barn Fine Classics, which I will later link to this post somewhere around here.

Day 244

by Andrei on Jun.17, 2010, under project 365

I must have passed this place quite a few times but never noticed these trucks lined up there. When I stopped to take some pictures I noticed they were unloading some donations for a cancer cause. My son loves Penske trucks because we used them to make our big move two years ago.

Day 203

by Andrei on May.07, 2010, under project 365

Only a car photograph today without any strobes. I did a bit of post production in Lightroom. The tires got dust from the gravel and I thought they looked cool. I like white tires. I enhanced that a bit more with brushes (shortcut key K) and darkened some other things, of which the most obvious is the license plate. Here’s my new ride. Day 203.

Day Eighty Six

by Andrei on Jan.10, 2010, under project 365

I know I know, it’s been done before. I think I got cooler images than this one tonight but they probably have been done before even more than this one. It started raining towards the end and I didn’t feel like experimenting too much. Truth be said I did see a great image that with all the expertise I could not capture yet. It has to do with balancing high ISO with the shutter. Maybe some other night… when it’s not raining.
There goes day 86.

Day Forty Seven

by Andrei on Dec.02, 2009, under project 365

Some guy driving some huge truck got pulled over in front of me while returning home. It wasn’t too far from yesterday’s spot and I decided to pull over in front of him and take a shot. It was dark and rainy so I didn’t get the best view. You can read below for details and setup shot.

Strobist info: 580 EX II with bunch of red and blue gel behind the truck, on the ground fired manually on two channels with the TEST button of the PW during 1’6″ exposure (blue, blue, red) and $2 LED flashlight handheld and hand snooted to get some highlights of the truck. Modified setup shot here. Between you and I, this was by far the hardest shot so far.

Day Forty

by Andrei on Nov.25, 2009, under project 365

Today I wasn’t planning to get this shot. I got called to do this on the spot and I kinda had to make it work with one light. Everything, besides the cake, was improvised. I’m glad it turned out the way it did. And the cake was good. Mmm, mmm,… Happy birthday, Timi!

Happy Be-Day, Timi!

Happy Be-Day, Timi!

Strobist info: 580 EX into umbrella, CR at 1/2 via PW. Slow shutter for small tungsten fill. That’s why you can see the little orange spot in the middle. I usually don’t tweak with the images, cause there’s just so dang many, so pretty much what you see is straight from camera. I’ll let you know when I tweak, that’s if it’s not obvious. Don’t forget to grab the RSS and share on Facebook, Twitter, and what have you,… right below.

Day Seventeen

by Andrei on Nov.02, 2009, under project 365

I had the chance to take some photographs from up high tonight. I found this image the most interesting because it gives the impression of a comic book layout or something from Richard Scarry’s children books where you can see the top floor, the bottom floor and the basement in the same time. I love the composition here. It feels like the houses are under the highway.

This was shot from quite far, with a telephoto lens. If you see a little wave in each blur on the highway it’s not because the pavement is uneven and the cars were driving on bumpy roads; the cool effect is created by my expensive tripod that starts shaking as soon as the LED light from the camera starts blinking.
