Day 361

The pumpkin season is back. It reminds me of my other pumpkin from the beginning of the project. This one will not rot though because it’s made out of wires and beads. I put a full CTO (color temperature orange) gel on the flash to bring the color of the light (the temperature) to the same one as the candles. The rest was just balancing the two sources of light using aperture and shutter speed.
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving, those of you who have already celebrated it this year. The rest of you, early Happy Thanksgiving.

Can Man Live Without God is the title of the book by Ravi Zacharias. I have met Dr. Zacharias and have heard him speak many times. What an amazing story his life is and what an amazing mind he has. If you are not acquainted with his work and his ministry, it will be an eye opener. Wether a believer in God, or a non believer, agnostic or atheist, he will challenge your thinking, your questions and your motives and ideas. I have found him fascinating both as a human being, as an apologist, as a philosopher and as a Christian. You can find more details about his ministry at www.rzim.org and find his podcast right here.
Image lit by the obvious in the frame candles and one 580 EX CR with a coroplast snoot and a 1.5 CTO gel zoomed to 105 and set at 1/128th power, as the setup in this image shows. The reason for the 1.5 CTO gel is to bring the naturally white light of the flash to a warmer color temperature, closer to the one of the candles. This way, the image does not give away that there was an extra item lighting the subject and the viewer does not tend to question where the light comes from since there are two candles already in the frame.
