Day 264

by on Jul.07, 2010, under project 365

I believe I still remember my own tricycle. It was a front wheel drive (sic!) it had an iron front wheel. At some point the wheel started to wobble and I kinda lost traction with it. I realized also that you couldn’t break well with a tricycle and thus should stay away from steep hills or valleys. I remember a story from my father’s own childhood, the way he told it to us. Someone dared him to go down a steep hill. He asked, “who? ME!?” [doesn't dare go down?] So he went. He can’t remember who got to the bottom first, the tricycle or him. I guess it was a first lesson in modesty and pride.

Shot on manual mode with an old Canon Rebel and a cheap stock lens.

Day 202

by on May.06, 2010, under project 365

I saw this cool biker all dressed up in tux and I thought it would make a good photograph for my project. The idea came up yesterday when we came home and my son got up on his sister’s tricycle. We shot this in a few frames with one speedlight camera left and hurried home to watch the Backyardigans.

I figured it was time to play with the strobes. Forgot about the setup shot. One umbrella camera right, 580 ex 1/8, 1/30 1.4.
Update: this bike went missing only a few days later.
