Day 143

by Andrei on Mar.08, 2010, under project 365

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind”. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself”. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

Lighter info: zippo lighter painting the star. It took more than 10 tries to get this right. OK, more than 20… a lot more. Bulb mode via Canon RC-1, f/20-22, ISO 100.

Ok so I’ve seen this technique before..you use a slow shutter speed and you paint with light (that’s what this photographer called it)..He used a 20 minute exposure and he basically painted some cliffs on a mountain with different coloured flashlights..what I don’t get is why doesn’t the shape of your body or hand (in this case) doesn’t show up in the picture??? Shouldn’t it be like blurred because of the slow shutter speed ? :D

Your body if it keeps moving and does not block the light or if it is not hit by the light (at least not enough to provide a “proper exposure”) will not show up in the picture. If what’s behind it get’s properly exposed then that will override where ever your body was while painting. It’s fun to do and is not as easy as you might think, but has great results.
