Day Fourteen

I promise I’ll leave the rotten pumpkin be. I’m not too particularly excited about this shot, and I have not gotten the results I was hoping for, even though the setup did include some over the top improvisations. When I say “over the top” I mean that I put the light over the top of the bunk bed, through a clear plastic ziplock bag because it was raining. I was on the bottom floor on the ground synchronizing the lights via PW. The rain wasn’t strong enough and it didn’t show in the final image. I thought about taking the hose out but figured it would be too much of a hassle right now. This is a learning process after all and I figured it was enough learning for one day. I mean I did figure out how to stick the flash out the kids bedroom window… right? I think that should count. There goes day fourteen.

Day Thirteen

by on Oct.29, 2009, under project 365

I heard once on the Glenn Beck Program (while he was still on radio) that some lady broke a CFL lightbulb. If you look carefully on the label when you buy them, or right on the bottom white side just below the glass part is says Hg. That’s Mercury, and it’s the same substance some of us played with when kids. I remember actually sticking my hand in a little bottle of mercury and was impressed that it did not get “wet”. Just some little residue stuck to my finger, but nothing really bad. Now they say it’s very dangerous, poisonous, causing cancer, etc. and it might be. I’m sure it’s no flax seed or whole wheat. Glenn Beck talked about this lady that called some Poison Control Center and they came and sealed her room, told her to stay out of there for a few weeks, etc. On the other side, there was another lady that broke a CFL bulb and she had an “Oh well…” attitude and just vacuumed it. Other people hold on to them to take photographs.
